Are you living a good story?

Over the past few weeks I (Brent) have been privileged to be able to sit down with several people from our KVWC community, and to hear their stories. Many of you have probably noticed during our services throughout the month of October, that we have been showing these testimonies in a video short called "What's Your Story?" It has been such a blessing to be able to sit, and talk, and hear how time after time Jesus rescued, redeemed and restored each person, no matter how different, difficult or bleak their circumstances were. If hearing these testimonies has ensured me of anything it is that, God loves us, He wants us, and He will chase us to the ends of the earth so that when we wake up and realize our need for Him, He is right there... Just a breathe away... It is nice to know that God is like that.
The other thing I have learned, or am learning as a result of filming these testimonies has come more in the form of a question, and it is this: "Are you STILL living a good story?" I think a lot of the time as Christians, we sell God (the "author" of life if you will) short on the story of our lives. A lot of us can tell the story of the first chapter of our lives, how God came, and rescued us from Sin and despair (an amazing story it is), but when it comes to the second act or Chapter, we resort to "yea... uhh.. life's been good.." I can't help but wonder, if God, the Author has bold adventure, powerful acts, and incredible plot twists for us.. I can't help but wonder if He wants our lives to be purposeful and specific, an adventure that only He can plan for us. I can't help but wonder if "the story of Brent" is as good as it COULD be... Or if the story of the KVWC is as good as it could be. Recently, I have not been able to escape this question, "are you still living a good story? Are you experiencing all God has for you? Or, are you allowing your fears, your struggles, stresses and busyness to get in the way of an amazing, fulfilling adventure that the "author of life," has all mapped out for you on the whiteboard of your life?
So, here is to our stories... past, present and future... And here is to "grabbing life by the horns" today, and doing something bold, or passionate for the Name, and Kingdom of Jesus.

The rest of your story starts right now... Live it well.

Peace,

Brent
